Today has been very relaxing.
I got up late, and went to lunch which was yummy. I stayed for a little bit of the soccer game between Argentina and Mexico, but in the first 30 min Argentina already lead 2-0, so i figured it was safe to leave.
Then i trekked over to the lab to check on my brine shrimp that i had put in the day before. i thought that it may have been that the plastic container that i was hatching them in was leeching out some harmful chemicals, so i switched them to a glass beaker. So far, so good. they all seemed to survive their first 24 hours - we'll see how the next 24 go. I saw no dead shrimp at the bottom of the beaker which is a very good sign.
Then, i came back to my cabin and have been here, doing some calculations, and tidying up my lab notebook so its understandable. Its been a good day.
oh also: i saw a snake on my way over to the lab. im not sure if it was poisonous, but im going to describe it to some people who know those kind of things and see.
ReplyDeletethere was also a HUGE toad in the comedor today. it was as large as, hmm like a softball. except bigger. but not by much. quite cool.
Hey Maddy, doc M. here. I just got back from Europe, where the wildlife is a whole lot tamer than what you're dealing with, and am catching up with your blog.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real bummer when you can't even get to the real experiment because your controls are misbehaving, but you're doing the right thing to straighten that out first. Sounds like you may be on the right track.
